So we're gonna have a fun, really fast episode today just looking at how we can maximize working remotely and, and really specifically out of, out of the house, which many people do now. So with the pandemic, this post pandemic, um, surge of employers, um, inviting their employees to work remotely, and you know, it's exciting. I've been doing it for 10 years. I, I've, I ho now with a lot of folks who have done it for a while. So I've got some, a lot of, lot of different input and angles on this. But, you know, there's a fair amount of people I'm finding out that really don't enjoy working, uh, remotely and out of the house. They'd rather have a destination to go to an office. They missed a camaraderie and everything. So I'm saying, Hey, let's take a look at three things. First thing I'd say is how can you, if you're one of those people that you miss the office, how can you kind of look at this and shift it from being a glass half empty to a glass half full? Well just consider some of these silver linings, right? The fact that you don't have that time when you close that computer and you're done a minute later, you can be with your family and your loved ones and your, your fa you know, kids and, and you can have more flexibility in there for picking the kids up at school, taking'em to soccer practice, um, band practice. You can do doctor's appointments, maybe a little bit easier dentist appointments than you had in the o typical office environment. There's a lot of flexibility baked in there. How about the diet? Oh my gosh, your diet. You have the ability to really hone in on more, you know, a more regular routine and diet. Same with exercise. You know, these are some things that really come with it, and I really look at it as raising the total quality of life bar. And by working remotely, you can really, um, appreciate life a lot better and, and, you know, treat your body better in the process too. So the second thing I'd say is, you know, don't use this as a lease on life to take advantage of your employer. Like, oh, great, you know, this is great. I'm working at a house. I don't have to work that hard. I say just the opposite. Why don't you, um, why don't you try to exceed expectations? I don't mean working longer hours, I just mean, you know, making sure that your nose is to the grindstone. You're putting in quality time and effort, and you're producing good output for your employer. And this will kind of start to build a really good trust factor with your employer and, and kind of build an insurance policy for long-term, you know, sustainability of this. Um, you know, working remotely framework, I mean, there's a lot of employers I've talked to that absolutely love the productivity they get from folks who work remotely. And, you know, there's some that are very hesitant about some of their employees. But I would say, man, if you could, if you could bake into your, you know, DNA n daily DNA n a on trying to exceed expectations, man, you, you will love when those employers say, you know what? We're gonna continue this work remotely for another year, and you've got another year or many years to enjoy it. And the third thing I would just throw out is create a dedicated space to, to have a destination. Carve some space out. Don't be this kitchen table business camper that camping gets tired, you know, bundling everything up, taking it to the kitchen table, setting it up, doing business, packing it all up, taking it to the mudroom, the bedroom downstairs, wherever this stuff goes, and then redoing it the next day. It really gets tiring. You start saying to yourself, you know, this just feels so temporary. Well carve out a little nook of your home where you actually, it, it's like, you know, commuting to the office that is your dedicated space. You'll enjoy it more, I think, and you'll get more out of it. Um, and, and, you know, your, your spouse, uh, might not like in my case, you know, happy that the kitchen table hasn't been, uh, railroaded with a bunch of stuff. So I just say, Hey, embrace it. Enjoy. You should have tons of fun. We're gonna dip back today for a lost in the shuffle tune. Chicago Transit Authority was their first name. They shortened it to Chicago. Bunch of lads from Chicago great, great rock band, uh, in Chicago 6 19 73. They put out of tune feeling stronger every day. What a jumpy great tune. Feel stronger every day by working remotely. We will see you next week in 168 hours.
